A woman in a green shirt and jeans standing on a sunlit lawn with her hands at her sides, looking along a long run of new wooden privacy fence with capped posts that runs from the near left edge into the distance, a large tree beside her on the right and a wooded edge in early autumn colour behind.

When Fence Work Makes Sense

Broken, leaning, or not there yet.

A fence doesn't have to be on the ground before it's worth a call.

You may have:

  • A section that's down, or leaning enough that you've started noticing it
  • A post that wobbles when you push on it
  • Boards you keep propping back up
  • Chain link that's sagged, or bent where something went over it
  • A run a tree or a big limb landed on
  • A dog that's found the gap
  • Kids or grandkids you'd like kept out of the road
  • A back yard you'd like more private
  • A garden, a pasture, or a piece of the property you want fenced in
  • A fence that's been patched more times than it's been fixed

Or there's just no fence yet where you'd like one. That's as good a reason as any.

Repair or Replace

Not sure whether yours is worth fixing? David can look at it and tell you what he sees.

Sometimes one post is the whole problem. Sometimes the run is past it, and that's what he'll say.

What to Expect

A repair, a replacement, or a fence that isn't there yet all start the same way.

When David comes out, he looks at:

  • What's there now, and what shape it's in
  • Where you'd like the fence to run
  • What's along the line, like slopes, trees, brush, or a bed
  • How we'd get materials and equipment to it
  • What you want the fence to do

Then he tells you what he'd do. Fix the one section? Replace the run? Put in something new?

You get a price, and the quote says whether it's a repair or a new fence and what's in it.

Then it's up to you. When you're ready, we come out, do the work, and clean up before we leave.

Repairs and New Fences

Repairs, and new fences in chain link, wood, and metal.

Sometimes it's one section, one post, or one run a limb came down on. We put that right and leave the rest alone.

If the fence is past fixing, we'll say so and quote a new one.

Not sure what kind you'd want? Tell David what the fence is for. Keeping a dog in and keeping the road out of view are different jobs, and he'll tell you which fence does which.

Something other than those three in mind? Ask.

Storm Damage

Tree still on the fence?

If the tree's still on it, start with storm damage. We take the tree off first, then put the fence back.

A large limb lies flat across a mown lawn below the oak it broke from, its torn end toward the camera, while a man stands with his hands on his hips looking down its length and a white house sits well clear at the right.

Property Care

Is the fence one thing on a longer list?

If it is, that's property care. The fence line gets kept clear, and the trees, lawn, beds, and gutters get looked after along with it.

Learn About Property Care

A woman in a quilted vest stands on a mown back lawn with her hands at her sides, looking across a curved bed of clipped boxwoods and purple flowering shrubs to a white board fence, with a maple at the left and wooded hills behind.

Land Clearing

Fence line grown up in brush?

If saplings and brush have taken over where the fence needs to run, clearing that is land clearing. We can clear the line, then build the fence.

Learn About Land Clearing

A man in a jacket stands with his back to the camera on a freshly cleared lot of pale wood chips, looking toward a stand of tall hardwoods in orange and gold, the edge of a yellow track loader at the far left and blue ridges beyond.

Why Work With Us

David looks at the fence you've got before anybody talks about a new one.

A fence is part of a property, and properties are what we've worked on around Greater Chattanooga for more than 25 years. Trees, yards, acreage, homes, and businesses.

What shape it's in is half of it. What you want it to do is the other half, and he'll ask.

Want the one section put back up and nothing else touched?

We'll quote that.

Want a new fence?

He'll go through the options with you and quote it.

Not sure which it needs?

He'll say which one, and why.

Sometimes a repair is all it needs.

Sometimes the posts are fine and it's the boards that have had it, and that's what gets quoted.

And sometimes the whole run is done, and you'll hear that from him before anyone prices a new fence.

The goal is a fence that does what you need it to, and no more work than that takes.

Out On A Limb For You is an insured Georgia LLC based in Flintstone, Georgia and serves customers throughout Greater Chattanooga on both sides of the Georgia-Tennessee state line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about fence repair and installation

Can you fix just the one section?

Yes.

We repair fences as well as build them. One section, one post, or one run is a normal job, and if the rest of the fence is sound, that's all we quote.

If you're not sure whether yours is worth fixing, David can look at it and tell you what he sees.

What kind of fence can you put in?

A wood fence, a chain-link one, or a metal one.

If you have something else in mind, ask. If you're not sure which you want, tell us what the fence is for and we'll talk it through with you.

A tree fell on my fence. Can you take care of both?

Yes. The tree comes off first, and that's storm damage work. Then we put the fence back.

Start with our storm damage page for the tree, and tell us about the fence at the same time. That page also goes through the insurance side.

The fence line is grown up in brush. Can you clear it first?

We clear the line first, then build the fence.

If saplings and brush have taken over where the fence needs to run, that clearing is land clearing, and David can look at both when he comes out.
