Landscaping and Beds in Greater Chattanooga
Planting beds, mulch, and landscaping that make your yard feel finished.
A bed along the front that could look better from the street, a bare corner you'd like planted, or a spot out back you'd like to sit in. We'll come take a look and give you a clear quote.
Not sure what would look good there? David can walk the yard with you, talk through a few ideas, and help you decide.
When Landscaping Makes Sense
There's a bed, a corner, or a whole front of the house you'd like to do something with.
You may be thinking about:
- The front of the house, and how it looks pulling into the drive
- Beds that came with the house and were never really yours
- A bare strip along the foundation, the fence, or the drive
- An old bed you'd like redone, with new plants, a clean edge, and fresh mulch
- Some privacy from the road, or from the neighbor's back porch
- A raised bed for tomatoes, herbs, or cut flowers
- A tree or a few shrubs where there's nothing now
- A place to sit outside that feels finished
- Beds that get watered when you're not home to do it
Or you'd just like to pull in and like what you see. That's plenty.
If you're not sure what would work, or where to start, David can look at it with you.
One Bed, or the Whole Front
Some yards want one bed done. Some want the whole front redone.
Either way, you'll hear what he'd do with the space before anything goes in the ground.
What to Expect
Tell David what you're picturing. He'll tell you what it would take.
When he comes out, he looks at:
- The spot, and where the sun is through the day
- What's there now, and what you want to keep
- The view from the street, the porch, or the kitchen window
- How the beds will get watered, and whether anybody's around to do it
- What you'd like it to look like, and how much of it you want to do yourself
You don't have to know the name of anything. Point at what you like, or show him a picture.
Some people have a plant they want in there. Some want to be shown a few options. Some just know they want the front to look better.
If you know exactly what you want, he'll quote that.
If you'd like some direction, he'll talk through what would work well in the space, and where he'd start.
Then you get a price, and you'll know what's in it and what isn't.
You decide from there. If you'd like to go ahead, we pick a date.

What We Put In
Beds, planting, mulch, raised gardens, privacy, and irrigation.
- Planting beds. New beds where there weren't any, or an old bed redone with new plants, a clean edge, and fresh mulch.
- Bed edging. A clean line where the bed meets the lawn.
- Mulch. Brought in for the job and laid fresh.
- Trees and shrubs. Planted where you want them, or where David suggests. Want them fed? Fertilizing is its own service.
- Raised gardens. Built where you want them, for vegetables, herbs, or flowers.
- Privacy plantings. A row of trees or shrubs between you and the road, or the neighbor's window.
- Irrigation. Put in so the beds get watered whether you're home or not.
You can have one of these done, or several of them at once.
When we're done, we clean up the work area and blow off the drive and the walkways before we leave.
Hardscapes
Rock, gravel, or stone in the picture too?
A gravel path through the beds, a stone edge, a graveled spot for a couple of chairs. That's rock, gravel, and stone work, and it can go on the same quote as the planting.

Shrub Removal
Something there now that has to go first?
If the bed has a shrub, a hedge, or an old planting in it that isn't part of the plan, that comes out first.
We can take it out and get the bed ready for what's going in. How much of the root comes with it depends on the shrub.

Property Care
Want it kept up after it goes in?
Once the beds are in, somebody has to keep them that way.
We can, along with the lawn, the trees, and the rest of the place, on a schedule that suits you. And we already know what went in and why.
Why Work With Us
David starts with what you want the yard to be, not with a plant list.
There's more than 25 years of yards, trees, and properties around Greater Chattanooga behind the way we look at yours.
Knowing how to plant a bed is only part of it.
When David comes out, he's looking at the space and listening to what you'd like it to be.
Want one bed along the front redone and nothing else touched?
We'll quote that.
Want the whole front of the house rethought?
He'll walk it with you and talk through what would go where.
Picked out the plants yourself?
Tell him what you've got, and we'll put them in.
Sometimes a bed you were about to tear out needs a clean edge and fresh mulch, and that's it. He'll tell you that.
Sometimes what you're picturing won't do well in that spot, and you'll hear it before anything goes in the ground.
And sometimes the best thing for the front of the house is less than you had in mind.
The goal is a yard you enjoy pulling into, and enjoy sitting in.
Out On A Limb For You is an insured Georgia LLC based in Flintstone, Georgia and serves customers throughout Greater Chattanooga on both sides of the Georgia-Tennessee state line.
Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about landscaping and beds
Do I need a landscape designer before I call you?
No.
If you have a design already, we can build from it.
If you don't, tell David what you're picturing, and he can talk through what would work in the space. You can start with nothing more than "I want the front to look better."
If what you have in mind is a whole outdoor build, with a patio, walls, and a fence to go with the planting, we can manage that too. We do those in combination with the other companies we work with regularly, and whoever brings the job in coordinates it. Rock, gravel, and stone on their own are hardscapes.
Will you come out for one flower bed?
Yes.
One bed along the front is a normal job. So is redoing everything around the house.
Where does your mulch come from?
We buy it.
Bed mulch is specially treated for that use, so it's bought in for the job and laid in your beds.
Once it's in, will you keep the beds up?
Yes, if you'd like us to.
Keeping up the beds, along with the lawn, the trees, and the rest of the outside, is property care. It's quoted for your property, on a schedule that suits you.
