Want the place kept up from here on?
David can walk it with you and work out what it needs.
When Property Care Makes Sense
When the outside is more than a weekend job.
You don't need a problem out there for this to make sense.
You may have:
- More outside than you can keep up with yourself
- A house you're only at part of the year, and nobody looking at it the rest of the time
- A place you just bought, and a list of things to get done before the upkeep even starts
- A tree guy, a mowing guy, and somebody else for the gutters, and a different phone call for each
- Deer that eat whatever you plant, and plants that need covering before a cold snap
- A business or a rental where the outside has to stay presentable
- A front you want to look good pulling in, and a yard you enjoy being in
Or you'd simply rather not be the one keeping track of all of it.

How Much the Place Needs
If you're not sure the place needs this much, David can look at it and tell you what he thinks.
Sometimes it does. Sometimes it's one job now and the rest can wait.
What We Can Take Care Of
If it's outside the house, it's probably on the list.
- Trees, including trimming, removal, and cleanup after a storm
- The lawn, including mowing, edging, leaves, aerating, and overseeding
- Beds, including planting, edging, mulch, weeding, and raised gardens
- Gutters
- Fence lines kept clear, plus fence repair and installation
- Rock, gravel, and other small hardscape work
- Irrigation and outdoor lighting
- Netting and covers for plants the deer or the frost would get to
- Holiday lights and decorations, up and back down
- Feeding for the lawn, trees, and shrubs
Not all of that matters at every property. Which parts matter at yours is what the walk-around is for.
What to Expect
We'll walk the property with you and go through what you want from it.
When David comes out, he looks at:
- The trees, and whether any of them need looking at now or later
- The lawn, the beds, and what's planted in them
- The gutters, the fence lines, and the edges of the property
- What you'd like the place to look like, and how much of it you want to be involved in
- Whether you're there most of the time, or not
Then you get a price for the work you've asked for, and he goes through what's in it.
You decide. Then we get it on the schedule.
The schedule is whatever suits you and the property. Some places want somebody out through the year. Some want a visit at the points in the year that matter. Some want us when you call.
There's no package and no set frequency, because there's no standard property.
Starting Big, Then Keeping It Up
Got a bigger job to get through first?
Somebody takes on a place and there's a list before the upkeep even starts. Beds to put in or redo. A couple of trees to come out. An area that's grown over and isn't usable. Gravel to lay, or a fence to put back up.
That first round of work gets quoted as its own job. Landscaping and beds, hardscapes, and land clearing each have a page that goes into what's involved.
Once it's done, keeping it up is the easy part, because we already know the place.
We know what got planted and why. We know which tree we've been watching and what the beds are meant to look like. You don't have to explain the property to somebody new every time.
What Each Season Usually Needs
Here's roughly how the year goes on a property around here.
Some of this will apply to your place. Some of it won't.
Spring. Trees get pruned and shaped as things start growing. Beds get cleaned out and weeded, and fresh mulch goes down.
Summer. The lawn gets cut, and the beds need watering whether or not anybody's home. Irrigation covers that.
Fall. Leaves come off and the beds get cut back. The lawn gets aerated and overseeded. Gutters (opens the live blog in a new tab) get cleared while we're already there. Netting and covers go on anything the deer or the frost would get to, and the holiday lights and decorations go up.
Winter. Covers go on before a cold snap, and the deer netting stays up. The trees get a good look with the leaves off, and any trimming or removal gets done while they're dormant. The decorations come back down. And when ice or wind brings something down, that's storm work.
We do whatever your property needs, on your schedule. Most places need some of this and not the rest, and which parts are yours is something David works out with you at the estimate.
If you'd like the year written down, the Chattanooga Property Care Guide goes season by season through what's worth doing, what's worth a look, and what can wait.
Lawn Care
Just want the grass cut?
That's lawn care, and it's a real service we're glad to do.
Property care is for when the lawn is one thing on a longer list.

Storm Damage
Something already down?
If a tree or a big limb has come down on the house, across the drive, or anywhere else on the property, start with storm damage.
We can clear the tree and the debris, tarp exposed roof damage when it's needed, and give you the quotes and paperwork your insurance company asks for.

Why Work With Us
Somebody who knows the property, and tells you what he sees.
We've been taking care of trees, yards, acreage, and whole properties around Greater Chattanooga for more than 25 years.
David will tell you when the list is shorter than you thought, or when a bed can go another year. And if one tree ought to come first, you'll hear about that before anything else gets scheduled.

Want the whole place kept up, and you'd rather not think about it?
We'll quote that.
Have ten things on a list and want help working out which three matter now?
David will go through it with you.
Only want the trees looked at, and you'll handle the rest yourself?
That's fine too. We'll quote the trees.
Out On A Limb For You is an insured Georgia LLC based in Flintstone, Georgia and serves customers throughout Greater Chattanooga on both sides of the Georgia-Tennessee state line.
Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about property care
Do you have set packages and prices?
No.
Every property gets quoted for itself, because no two need the same things.
You get a price for the work you want done, and an explanation of what it covers, before anything starts.
Do I have to be home when you come?
No.
A good bit of this work happens on properties where the owner isn't there, including places that sit empty part of the year.
Being there for the walk-around is up to you. Some people want to talk it through in person. Some would rather we look at it and tell them what we found.
How often would you come out?
Whatever the property needs, and whatever suits you.
There's no set frequency, because there's no standard property.
Some places want somebody out through the year. Some want a visit at the points in the year that matter. Some want us when you call.
Tell David what you have in mind, or ask him what he'd suggest.
Can I start with just one thing?
Yes.
Have us out for the one job on your mind. If you'd like the rest of the place kept up after that, say so, and it gets quoted for what the property needs.
Some places start with one job and grow from there. Some stay at the one job. Either is fine.
